ZigBee is a new network standard for locating a Personal Area Network (PAN) from anywhere in the world. The client approached us to design a plastic housing that was both contemporary and minimalistic, to convey the idea of a new network generation. In addition, the housing was required to accommodate a variation of electronic components to become different products within a family. We proposed a product styling with crisp edges for the industrial design, and a replaceable insert tooling strategy as a solution to the mechanical design requirement.
